The Construction Visa Subsidy Program (CVSP) in Western Australia delivers several key benefits for both employers and skilled migrants working in the building and construction sector.

1. Financial relief on visa and relocation costs
Employers can receive up to $10,000 per skilled migrant to help cover migration‑agent fees, visa‑application charges, and relocation or relocation‑related expenses.

Independent skilled migrants using eligible WA‑nominated visas (e.g., 190, 491) may also receive up to about $5,000–10,000, depending on whether they apply onshore or offshore.

2. Support for multiple visa pathways
The program supports common construction‑sector visas such as 482 (Skills in Demand/Temporary Skill Shortage), 494 (Skilled Employer Sponsored Regional), 186 (Employer Nomination Scheme), 190 (Skilled Nominated), and 491 (Skilled Work Regional).

This flexibility helps employers and migrants choose the right visa stream without losing access to the subsidy.

3. Easier recruitment and faster project delivery
By reducing the cost and complexity of sponsoring skilled overseas workers, the CVSP helps WA construction businesses fill critical labour shortages and keep projects on schedule.

The program is especially useful for small and medium‑sized construction firms that may otherwise struggle with the upfront costs of sponsorship.

4. Encourages long‑term settlement in WA
The subsidy helps both employer‑sponsored migrants and state‑nominated migrants settle in Western Australia, supporting regional and major‑city growth and stabilising the construction workforce.

Coupled with WA‑specific migrant‑employment tools such as the Skilled Migrant Employment Register, the CVSP improves matchmaking between employers and qualified overseas workers.

5. Milestone‑based, predictable payments
For employers, the $10,000 subsidy is paid in stages (milestone payments) tied to different phases of the visa process (e.g., application, grant, arrival), which helps cash‑flow planning.
